New Database – Best Practices in Combating Climate Change

At COP15 – December's global climate summit – Local Government Denmark will present a database of best practices in combating climate change at the local and regional level.

Currently, the database contains more than 100 examples on how the local and regional level tackles the challenges posed by climate change.

The aim of the database is twofold. First, the database will give cities, municipalities and regions worldwide an opportunity to present their best practice in the field of climate change and exchange experience in this field. Second, the database is a way to show the national governments, international organisations and the press that cities, municipalities and regions play a central role in the fulfilment of the Kyoto protocol.

The database of best practices will be updated continuously up to COP15. The examples will also be presented at EXPO 2010, next year's world exhibition in Shanghai.

There are three main themes covered by the database:

  • Adaptation
  • Mitigation
  • Overall strategies

It is free of charge to become a part of the database. If your city, municipality or region wishes to join the database, please send a presentation of your best practice (as a pdf file) to Local Government Denmark by e-mail international.relations@kl.dk
