LGDK has entered into a cooperation with municipalities in the Kingdom of Bhutan, located in South Asia.
The Danish Liaison Office in Bhutan's capital city Thimphu recently contacted LGDK for assistance to design a finance policy for municipalities in Bhutan in close cooperation with Bhutan's Ministry of Works and Human Settlement.
The policy has been designed by consultations with all key ministries, district centres and the two existing municipalities and includes all elements of municipal finance from budgeting to auditing with special attention to enhancing the municipal local revenues. The draft policy has been discussed in seminars with all key stakeholders and the newly approved Local Government Act (LGA) has adapted some of the policies. Others will be included in the rules and regulations for municipalities to specify the LGA in more details.
The Kingdom of Bhutan is a landlocked nation in South Asia, located at the eastern end of the Himalaya Mountains. Bhutan has 700,000 inhabitants.
