About the Summit

A Milestone in Addressing Climate Changes

The Summit was a milestone on the Local Government Climate Roadmap and a central event for local governments worldwide. At the Summit, the local governments offered the national governments a national-local partnership to limit global warming. This partnership is a necessity if the decisions agreed on at the COP15 in Copenhagen 2009 are to be realised.

  • Background for the Summit

Local governments are the authorities closest to the citizens and must be involved if the decisions agreed on in Copenhagen in December 2009 are to be realised. This was where the Local Government Climate Change Leadership Summit in June 2009 came into the picture.

  • The Climate Summit Was Climate-Friendly

The Summit made it a virtue to be as climate-friendly as possible. Bella Center, the venue of the Summit, is therefore one of the leading conference centers in terms of climate awareness, and transport of guests was made with a minimum of CO2 emission.
