Sustainable Housing – Bolig+

Bolig+ is a housing concept where a synthesis of form, materials and technology creates buildings that are 100% energy-neutral in terms of energy for heating and ventilation and energy consumption as defined in the building regulations, but also in terms of individual consumption of energy for lighting and operation of household appliances.

Project description
The key to this concept and the demonstration value – is the interdisciplinary and innovative approach to the architectural project and in particular the examples actually realized.

BOLIG+ is a good, attractive, functional and inspiring dwelling characterised by the BOLIG+ dogmas:

  • Energy-neutral on an annual basis, energy frameworkmax. Energy Class 1

  • Intelligent and user-friendly

  • Flexible in terms of use and adaptable over time

  • Healthy indoor climate

  • In alignment with the local context

The project supports the wish of the Town Council of Aalborg to promote environmental and energy-friendly housing in the municipality, in line with the municipality's Sustainable Community Strategy 2008-11.

Process
March-June 2009: BOLIG+ project competition
June-Sept. 2009: Evaluation
Sep.-Oct. 2009: Decision
End of 2009-2010: Project design
2010-2011: Construction

Financing
The idea behind Bolig+ is that the project should be carried out on market terms. The City of Aalborg has sold a piece of land at normal market price to a private developer, A Enggaard A/S, who will build the housing units based on the Bolig+ concept and the guidelines stipulated in the local plan for the area. The Bolig+ secretariat is supported by the Danish Society of Engineers (IDA), the Architects' Association of Denmark (AA), the Danish Electricity Saving Trust, the Danish Technological Institute, the Danish Building Research Institute (SBi), Byggematerialeindustrien (BI) and the Danish Construction Association.
