The municipality of Herning is preparing a climate plan inspired by the IPCC calculation model based on an overall climate vision.
Project description
The municipality of Herning has prepared a broad climate vision which is included in the climate action plan.
The plan has been prepared on the basis of a thorough calculation and screening thereby mapping the most effective approach. Herning is the first municipality in Denmark trying to map emission using such an in-depth approach. The model is inspired by IPCC and can be the basis for a far more targeted climate effort.
Process
The results are measured on an ongoing basis using the methods developed as part of the green accounts in the municipality.
Financing
The vision is financed by local funds and project funds from Central Denmark Region and the state. Business enterprises and individuals contribute with working hours. The plan will be discussed during the budget negotiations in 2009-2012.
Status and results
It is expected that the plan will be completed in the autumn of 2008. Specific reduction goals will depend on the screening.
