Since 1 January 2008, the municipality of Kolding has purchased green electricity for all the municipal buildings and institutions.
Project description
By purchasing green electricity only, the municipality of Kolding demonstrates that it is feasible. It is a good example for citizens, companies and other municipalities and may contribute to increasing the general demand for green electricity.
Process
Procurement has been systematised since 1 January 2008.
Financing
Additional costs for green electricity are paid through planned savings on power consumption (including the Curve Breaker Agreement).
Status and results
Power consumption in the municipality of Kolding is CO2 neutral (approx. 14,400 MWh in 2007 corresponding to approx. 10,100 tons of CO2).
Presentation
The municipality can present green procurements activities over the years where procurement of green electricity will be a natural element.
The presentation can be made in Danish, English and German.
