In September 2009, the municipality of Frederiksberg will launch a citizen-oriented climate campaign under the slogan "Frederiksberg – climate is calling". Through a number of concrete measures the campaign will give citizens real options for action in terms of making climate-friendlier choices in their everyday life.
The campaign will be directed at two focus target groups – youth and families with children – as well at at a broader target group.
The campaign comprises the following items:

Discussion day for high school pupils with presentations, workshops, and stand-up performances

Electric cars
The municipality of Frederiksberg has for the last seven years used electric cars in the municipality's Parks and Streets Department. This department has today eleven small electrically driven vehicles with lithium (1 unit), tubular cell (4 units), and lead batteries (6 units). The Department's experience from using electric cars in their operation is very positive, and in a longer-term perspective it is planned to convert all diesel/gasoline-driven vehicles to electrically driven vehicles.
Also the Home Care Department of Frederiksberg wishes to use electric cars. During the day home care nurses use bikes to get around, while cars are used at night. Electric cars have major environmental benefits in a densely populated city such as Frederiksberg where many people travel short distances.
One of the aspects of the municipality of Frederiksberg's electric car project covers testing of the new lithium battery technology. The Parks and Streets Department is particularly focusing on testing large and heavy electric vehicles. This allows them to solve many more operating assignments with electric vehicles. As part of the municipality's project on electric cars, Frederiksberg is participating in the Danish Energy Agency's trial scheme for electric cars running in the period 2009-12.
In being a frontrunner in the use of electric cars for the municipality's transport we wish to inspire citizens and businesses into using electric cars.
